GHMC’s pet proposal to construct flyovers as part of the Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP) in and around the Kasu Brahmananda Reddy Park in Jubilee Hills is running into trouble.

Raising their protest against the decision to fell 3100 trees in the park vicinity, people from all walks of life belonging to 30 organisation, city-based VATA Foundation has sought the civic body to relocate the trees.

According to Sumisha Reddy from the Foundation, ‘the State Government should hold the felling of trees until monsoon when it can take up translocation on its own. Moreover, by then we can mobilise donors and identify land for effective translocation.’

Gautam Vir, founder member of The Green Print, an NGO engaged in protection and preservation of trees, is among those expressing solidarity with the cause.
