Representatives of United Federation of Resident Welfare Associations (U-FERWAS) of Tarnaka has visited Pune recently on a private study tour to know more about the Pune Solid Waste Management System, and they have submitted a detailed study report on Tuesdayto Dr Janardhan Reddy, Commissioner of GHMC at meeting held at FTAPCCI, Federation House, Red Hills.
Representatives of United Federation of Resident Welfare Associations (U-FERWAS) of Tarnaka has visited Pune recently on a private study tour to know more about the Pune Solid Waste Management System, and they have submitted a detailed study report on Tuesdayto Dr Janardhan Reddy, Commissioner of GHMC at meeting held at FTAPCCI, Federation House, Red Hills.
B T Srinivasan, general secretary, U-FERWAS, said that in a 45-minute Power Point presentation they highlighted the best waste management systems, which are practised in Pune by the municipal corporation with the help of Swacch Cooperative for door-to-door segregated wet and dry waste collection.
He stated that this the first time in the history of GHMC that a team which went out on a study tour have submitted and discussed the final findings to city municipal commissioner, who applauded the U-FERWAS initiative and their team efforts for visiting Pune on their own expenses for this private study tour to bring a change and make Hyderabad, a smart and clean city on par with world class cities.
Dr Janardhan Reddy, commissioner of GHMC, articulated various steps to improve public awareness, motivation, and commitment. He urged the citizens to cooperate actively and also to involve corporative bodies like FTAPCCI, software companies, business houses for Swachh Hyderabad initiative.
GHMC will extend support to informal sector of waste management workers for improving their working conditions, facilities, increase earnings and access essential social services. Encouraging the interested RWAs in Swacch Colony initiative initially selectively one from each zone, through the Dy Commissioner of the respective ward.
Additional Commissioners K Surendra Mohan, N Ravi Kiran (Health & Sanitation) and Zonal Commissioners C N Raghu Prasad, BV Gangadhar Reddy, Srinivas Rao, Gourav Uppal, of East, West, South and Central Zones of GHMC and members of U-FERWAS attended the meeting.
