Even as celebrations of Telangana Formation Day were on at Sanjeevaiah Park, HICC and other venues, about 8,000 residents along with 2,000 support staff who maintain ‘My Home Jewel Apartments’ in Madinaguda, Kukatpally marked the day in their own way with song, dance and joy.

Even as celebrations of Telangana Formation Day were on at Sanjeevaiah Park, HICC and other venues, about 8,000 residents along with 2,000 support staff who maintain ‘My Home Jewel Apartments’ in Madinaguda, Kukatpally marked the day in their own way with song, dance and joy.

It was not just revelry, but the My Home Jewel Apartment Owners Welfare Association decided to give back something to society. An amount of Rs 66,000 was collected and a select few meritorious students of the 2,000 odd employees of the apartments were given cash rewards that varied from Rs 1,000 to Rs 6000.

Rajaratnam, general secretary said, “We had constituted an employees’ children education fund last year. We shortlisted children and 15 families have benefitted. This is our small way of giving back to these employees who work in maintaining the campus.”

Earlier, a flag was hoisted by Jayaraj, president of the association which was followed by Telangana folk songs and dances led by Jeevan and Rahul. J S Nanda Kishore, joint secretary of the association said, “It was a good way of celebrating Telangana Formation Day. It binds people together.”

On the occasion the association members also decided to collect books and toys for the next two weeks, which would be donated to Goonj an NGO. The event ended with a few speeches by senior residents. The show was anchored by Rajaratnam.
