With an objective to encourage budding artistes from Telangana, Deccan Film Society launched its website (Deccan Film Society) at The Golkonda Hotel on Tuesday.

Deputy Chief Minister Mahmood Ali, who launched the website, said “Compared to Mumbai and Madras film industries, Tollywood is less developed. Movies are the best medium to educate people. In the absence of quality movies, I hope DFS will produce quality movies. The Telangana government will extend all possible help to the Society”.

“We had a Deccan Film Industry in Hyderabad at the time of Nizams rule. Later, after the Telugu film industry began, DFS began encouraging filmmakers, artistes and technicians, who belong to Hyderabad. Nowadays artistes from other film industries are given more priority than Telugu artistes in our films,”said Mohammed Taufiq, President, DFS.

“In future DFS will become like the Bhojpuri and Marati film industries, where they get subsidies,” he adds. DFS Vice-President Muhammed Siraj Ahmed, General Secretary Syed Hussain and Treasurer Feroz Khan also spoke on the occasion.
