Taj Krishna housed articles of absolute beauty on Sunday, 5th June as Zoya, the jewellery brand division of the Titan Company, showcased their distinguished pieces brought in from their boutiques located in Mumbai and Delhi.
The ornaments of delicate yet detailed designs left the beholder awestruck. Being a young brand Zoya offers exquisite and unique designs to its clientele. “A lot of people compare our brand with Tanishq which is a parent company for us.
However, they have around 180 stores and so have mass produced products with one particular design having 800 to 900 pieces. We don’t do that. We just make two pieces not more than that,” says Vinayak, a representative for the brand. “So that’s the beauty of our products. It’s very exclusive and very limited.”
“The artisans who make our jewellery are those who have inherited their art from their forefathers. So it has been in their blood and families. If I ask somebody else to make the same piece, they might look similar but not identical,” Vinayak adds.
Drawing inspiration from all around the world, Zoya presents collections of diverse yet traditionally rooted designs. “We believe that our customer, a Zoya woman is somebody who loves travelling, who believes in art, culture and tradition not only the modern aspect but also the history of any art. Our inspiration is taken from around the world, from Egypt and Greece to the Ganga ghat.
That’s the diversity we have. It has no boundaries – it’s not limited,” expresses Vaneja Gupta, designer at Zoya. Each of their designs tell a story be it the necklace depicting a dancer’s skirt from Awadh, earrings designed to resemble the steeples of the Gopuram of temples in Banaras or even the pendant retelling the lore of Arachne from the Greek mythology.
While being rich in culture and tradition, each design by Zoya is delicately created with a modern touch without compromising on quality or their exclusivity. “Sangeetha Diwan is our leading designer. If any customer is looking for any modification or if they come to us with an idea we create a CAD image or a 3D image for them,” says Vinayak.
The brand wishes to release a new collection in the coming months, their inspiration drawn from an interesting, significant and a highly relatable source.“We are coming up with a very interesting collection this year. Its inspired by Lord Krishna. We seek to exhibit the best of his stories, his aesthetics and his life in our upcoming collection,” Vaneja Gupta revealed.
