Transport department increases online slots

The Transport department has now increased the number of slots per day to 300 and also provided motorists the facility of booking online slots on the same day.

The Telangana Transport Department had made all its services online from August 2 and stopped the manual application process, except for services like auction of vehicles and other State permits. There have been several technical glitches resulting in inconvenience to the motorists in the State.

Sources said that the transport authorities had imposed a limit on the number of slots to be booked for transactions pertaining to transport vehicles. “The officials had restricted the number as 30 per day in different RTA offices and 60 in Central Zone RTA office,” added sources. This service would be starting from August 24 onwards. There are 49 RTA offices in the ten districts of Telangana.

The Auto union leaders alleged that the move of the officials would not help the motorists but would cause inconvenience and would help brokers. Hans India reported this on August 16.

Sources said that the officials have now decided to increase the number of slots and also removed the limit of 30 transactions on transport vehicles. Earlier, in the manual process, on an average, the RTA offices used to have 200 to 250 transactions per day.

Joint Transport Commissioner (vigilance), B Venkateshwarlu told The Hans India that now the citizens can book slots for RTA services on the same day also up to 12 noon and should pay the fee online.
