Khammam: Protesting against the government for not providing better medical facilities in the State-run hospitals, the representatives of ‘All India Youth Federation’ held a rally from old CPI office to Wyra road and staged a dharna in front of the collectorate at Dharna Chowk here on Friday.

Addressing the protestors, the AIYF district general secretary S Karna Kumar alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and his Ministers were behaving negligently event after 52 from the district succumbed to dengue.

“Many poor people are dying of diseases due to lack of facilities and doctors in the government hospitals. The Chief Minister is more interested in construction of new Secretariat with air-conditioned rooms instead of providing basic facilities in the government hospitals,” Kumar criticised.

Demanding the government to grant Rs 5 lakh ex gratia to the family members of those who succumbed to dengue, he sought the government to announce the Khammam government hospital as a multi super speciality hospital.

He also demanded for establishment of 30-bedded hospitals for each mandal along with filling up of vacant posts in Health department.

The government will be taught a befitting lesson if it avoids to solve the problems and initiates any action against the agitating leaders and outfits, Kumar threatened. Meanwhile, the police foiled the dharna and arrested the leaders.

AIYF district president M Ramesh, Md Gouse Pasha, N Ramakrishna, V Ramu, A Mahesh, K Sathish Reddy, B Ashok, V Krishna, P Nagaraju, M Rama Rao, B Amar, Shaik Khaleem Pasha, T Krishna and J Sathish were present along with others.
