Breast cancer survivor Gautami Tadimalla visited Sparsh Hospice recently. The actress, who was diagnosed with the disease when she was 35 and fought it, was at the premises to counsel patients and console the families of those affected.

“In some cancer cases there is no cure because they are in advanced stages. We have to arrange them to live their final moments with dignity,” said Gautami; Sparsh deals with providing palliative care for such patients.

When they help one another, it is unusual and commendable. We must strive together to face it,” said the actress whose works with the NGO ‘Life Again’. “Our motto is ‘One for one and we are there for everyone’,” she shared.

Speaking about palliative care, she said “When a cancer patient’s medical team determines that it can no longer be controlled, medical testing and treatment stops. But the patients’ care continues.

One of their greatest fears is dying alone in a sterile, impersonal surrounding. This care focuses on making the patient comfortable.
