Sircilla: The government has constituted the BC Commission for the development of backward castes in the State, BC Commission Chairman B S Ramulu said.

Speaking at a meeting held at Podupu Bhavan here on Thursday, B S Ramulu said the Commission will work for the unity and welfare of the backward castes and for their development.

The Commission would visit the 28 states in the country to study the welfare schemes introduced by the respective government in their states for the development of the backward castes.

The Commission was going to study about social, health, education, occupations and employment conditions of various backward castes in the State.

Commission member Krishna Mohan Rao said that the Commission was going to work in a systematic and scientific way irrespective of political pressures.

The backward caste people were unaware of many welfare schemes introduced by the government. The Commission would prepare a report on that, he added. Municipal Chairperson S Pavani, Market Committee Chairman Chakrapani,

Vice-chairman Lakshma Reddy, RDO Shyam Prasad Lal and BC Welfare Officer Abdul Mohiuddin were present along with others.
