Although it is receiving encomiums in the works relating to Mission Kakatiya, Mission Bhagiradha and Haritha Haram programmes, the 2BHK houses scheme has to pick up speed as the TRS promised to build such houses for the poor during electioneering in 2014.
Kamareddy: The State government has decided to speed up the works relating to the construction of double bedroom houses for the poor in various districts of the Telangana State.
Although it is receiving encomiums in the works relating to Mission Kakatiya, Mission Bhagiradha and Haritha Haram programmes, the 2BHK houses scheme has to pick up speed as the TRS promised to build such houses for the poor during electioneering in 2014.
For the Kamareddy district, the government sanctioned 2,675 double bedroom houses and also invited tenders from contactors for the first and the second phases.
However, for reasons best known to them, except in Banswada constituency, the contractors did not evince any interest to take up the project.
As a result, the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has decided to personally intervene and ensure that the 2BHK scheme picks up speed to benefit the poor and the downtrodden.
With the contractors in the State showing no interest, the State government has decided to scout for contractors in Benguluru and Chennai where houses are being built at low cost using the latest technology.
It has also sent an official team to study the project. They were also asked to ink deals with such contractors.
Meanwhile, the District Collector N Satyanarayana started monitoring the construction works and ensure their completion on time. In order to construct 2,675 houses under the first phase, 62 vacant land sites are required.
When he visited Banswada, the officials told the Collector that they could finalise 53 vacant sites for the construction of houses in nine regions, they could not find land in another nine regions.
Construction works relating to 125 houses have already started in a total of 2675 houses. Works are going at a fast pace in Beedi workers colony and market yard region where sale of vegetables is held every week.
Works are also progressing fast at Bhairapur in Birkoor mandal. The Collector assured the people that works would also be taken up in other areas too.
The works have been entrusted to the Panchayat raj Department. The people, speaking to the Hans India here on Monday said that they would always remain grateful to the Chief Minister if the government takes up construction works. They expressed the hope that the works would be completed soon.
