He made a surprise visit to inspect the police stations in Bheempur, Tansi and Talamadugu mandals in the Adilabad district on Wednesday.

At the Jainadh police station in Bheempur, the Superintendent of Police enquired about the number of cases booked from the Circle Inspector of Police Jaipal and Sub-Inspector of Police Mallesh.

Later, he went to a police station in Tansi and spoke to the staff about the crime details and the problems that they were facing.

Speaking to the media at the Tansi police station, Superintendent of Police Srinivas said that the policemen should take up the Swachh Bharat campaign seriously and ensure that villages become clean and tidy.

All villages should become open defecation free and everybody should use toilets compulsorily, he added. He said that open defecation would be banned soon and those indulging in it would be penalised.

SP Srinivas said that a Special Police Task Force would be set up under the rank of a DSP officer on the border areas with Maharashtra to prevent the smuggling of country liquor or toddy.

He said that the police would enforce law and order strictly in the district to ensure peace. Right now, the law and order situation is strictly under control and due to the intensive patrolling during nights, economic ofences have come down drastically.

DSP A Lakshminarayana, Circle-Inspectors of Police Potharam Srinivas and Jaipal, Sub-Inspectors of Police Mohan and Mallesh and others were present.
