​Choutuppal: Police, ICDS and Labor department conducted raids on bricks manufacturing units at Peddakonduru village of Choutuppal mandal in the district on Tuesday and rescued 150 child workers Under Operation Smile-III of line departments.

Speaking to the media, Yadadri-Bhongir district Child Development and Protection Officer (CDPO) Tejaswini informed that based on reliable information,

Operation Smile team of Choutuppal division conducted raids on the bricks manufacturing units and identified that 150 children aged between 5 and 12 years were working there there.

The children of migrated labor from Odisha engaged in the works at bricks manufacturing units along with their parents in the village.

She said counseling would be given to the parents of the children and also action would be taken against the owners of bricks manufacturing units according to the law.

The rescued child workers were shifted to Children Home of Department of Women Development and Child Welfare at Hyderabad.

In another operation, 14 child workers in Nalgonda district, including four in Miryalaguda division and 10 in Nalgonda district, were rescued under Operation Smile on Monday. Similarly, five child workers were rescued in Suryapet district.

Nalgonda district CDPO Ganesh said that the Operation Smile would continue till end of this month to rescue child labor.
