Ravikiran Koganti, former software employee has started a website SmartTelugu.com to encourage budding entrepreneurs from the two Telugu speaking states.

Hailing from Guntur, he did Master of Computer Applications (MCA) from Bapatla Engineering College. He worked more than seven years in Tata Consultancy Services, Hyderabad, as an IT Analyst.

Speaking about his startup he shares, “I got bored with my software job and I decided to quit and started this company. However, it did not click initially as I did not have adequate information about how to float a startup. At that point of time, I was thinking to go back to the IT industry again. Later, I created a blog and posted an article about my failure. Interestingly, many people liked and shared my article. And that sparked an idea to start a professional blog in Telugu and I started SmartTelugu.com in 2014 to give suggestions to the upcoming entrepreneurs on various topics.”

“The website helps the budding entrepreneurs to start their own company. People can read various articles about startups, watch videos. This all is in Telugu so aspiring entrepreneurs, who hail from villages and small towns and have difficulty in reading in English can get ample knowledge through the website, which is entirely in Telugu,” he adds.

About his views on startups, he says, “Any person who wants to begin a startup must do research about it. We can post our new ideas in social networking groups to know the people’s opinions. Then we can find the advantages and disadvantages of it easily. Technology, finance, legal aspects and marketing are the four pillars for a new startup. We must have knowledge in any one of the above four streams to achieve success in startups,”

About blogging in our country he says, “In India, many people are quitting their jobs and earning through blogging. Till now we only have one per cent bloggers in the Telugu language. SmartTelugu is the first professional blog in Telugu. We have 55,000 followers on our Facebook page and we have 9,000 registered users on the website. Many people started professional blogs after the success of SmartTelugu. I specialise in digital marketing and till now I have written more than 200 articles on various issues. I do a lot of research before writing about any topic. I train new bloggers on how to earn money online.”

Ravi states that most of the readers on the website are engineering graduates. “We regularly conduct bloggers meet to discuss various topics. In Telugu, most of the blogs and websites are about news, entertainment and political. We are planning to write more on education and health in future. In future, local languages will rule the culture of blogging. Our main objective to penetrate rural areas,” he concludes.
