Hanamkonda: Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) is organising a massive public meeting in Warangal on April 27 at 6 pm to mark the foundation day, the party district president T Ravinder Rao said.
He said that efforts are on to mobilise a huge gathering of nearly 10 lakh people for the meeting. The organising committee members will inspect different locations in the city and will finalise the venue in three to four days, he added.
Speaking to press persons in Hanamkonda on Wednesday, he thanked the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for choosing Warangal to conduct the public meeting. Warangal played a crucial point in the fourteen years journey of the party and the current meeting signifies the importance being given to the district.
Ravinder Rao said that he along with the Deputy Chief Minister K Srihari would monitor the arrangements for the public meeting. Each assembly constituency has been appointed in-charges in the erstwhile Warangal district for public mobilisation.
The plan is to accommodate nearly three lakh people from Warangal district alone. The district TRS leadership had the record of conducting meeting with 25 lakh people in attendance in 2010, he said.
He said that as per the party leadership’s directions to all the district units, the ongoing membership drive in Warangal would be completed by April 5, by which the membership books should be submitted to State committee.
This year the target is to achieve 25 per cent additional membership enrolments in comparison to the last years’ membership drive. In accordance with the CM’s directions village, mandal and district level committees would be constituted by April 10, Ravinder Rao said.
Targeting the opposition, he said that recently as many as 10, 000 CPM workers from Warangal joined the TRS as they were impressed with the government’s welfare schemes.
The CM has asserted that he would ask for votes only if 2 lakh double bed room houses were constructed and every household is given water connection. The party leaders Jannu Jakaraiah, G Ravi Kumar, K Vasudeva Reddy and others were present.
