The district administration of Mahbubnagar is preparing an action plan to declare 100-150 Grama Panchayats as Open Defecation-Free in the next few months. And at the same time with the schools to reopen on June 12, the authorities have initiated the Swachh Vidyalaya Programme with an aim to provide all basic amenities in the schools.
Initiates Swachh Vidyalaya progamme in schools
Mahbubnagar: The district administration of Mahbubnagar is preparing an action plan to declare 100-150 Grama Panchayats as Open Defecation-Free in the next few months. And at the same time with the schools to reopen on June 12, the authorities have initiated the Swachh Vidyalaya Programme with an aim to provide all basic amenities in the schools.
As part of this initiative, District Collector Ronald Rose has directed the concerned officials to speed up works of construction of individual latrins and drainage systems in all the sanctioned villages across the district.
Similarly, with an aim to provide basic facilities like drinking water and toilet facilities in the government schools across the district, the District Collector is planning to initiate the ‘Swachh Vidyalaya Programme’ in coordination with Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) Grameen Sasi Water Organisation.
As part of this, the District Collector had directed the officials to conduct a base line survey of all the 1,350 schools in the district. To begin with, about 220 schools will the provided with all the basic facilities like sanitation, drinking water and toilet facilities.
“As the schools are reopen for next academic year, we have initiated Swachh Vidyalaya Progarmme to ensure all schools, both primary and secondary, have all basic facilities like sanitation, drinking water and toilets.
As part this, we have discussed with Dr Aditya Bastoli of Sasi Water Organisation and very soon 220 identified schools will have all the necessary basic facilities,” informed the District Collector.
According to officials, this kind of programme was first of its kind being implemented in the district in the entire state of Telangana and very soon the district will stand as an example to other districts in the provision of basic amenities for the students.
