Telangana Film Festival 2013, the first ever of its kind in the region was organised by Telangana Netizens Forum (TNF) and Film Telangana, founded by Jayaprakash Telangana, in association with Telangana Protection Forum, Telangana House surgeons and Medical Students Association at Gandhi Medical College Auditorium.

The objective of the event was to encourage and promote film makers from Telangana who were suppressed in the present film industry by the dominant Andhra film makers. A full day fest was conducted. The day was occupied by the first ever interactive workshop for film makers and writers from the region. The evening was a fiesta, for the film makers, with more than 25 short film entries, out of which 7 movies were screened and 3 were selected as the best movies.

The invitees congratulated all the participants and winners and appreciated the organisers for their sheer hard work and their determination for the upliftment of the region. Professor Kodandram explained the vision of the film industry in the future Telangana state and demanded for a film institute to encourage the youth to overcome the discrimination. Director and producer of ‘Maa Bhoomi’, Narsinga Rao explained his past experiences in the film industry and willingness to encourage the youth. Varavara Rao explained the historical milestones of the movies in the Telangana agitation.
