Old City bids farewell to Ganesh

The last day of the Ganesh festival is marked by the idol immersion and one of the city’s most famous idols comes from Gowlipura, Old City. This year, the idols from both Gowlipura and the one at Sudha Talkies were taken out before noon. At the Old City, the Ganesh festivities went off peacefully, but for one minor incident. Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi (BGUS) representatives and some of the people at Mecca Masjid exchanged heated words over the disruption of sound systems. However, the timely intervention by DCP Tarun Joshi, blocked, what could have otherwise turned into an ugly brawl.
