Hyderabad Police set up 100 special teams to check harassment of women in public places. These teams are called SHE teams and are aimed to counter eve-teasing, stalking and physical harassment at public places. Police Commissioner Mahendar Reddy said, “Teams would mingle with the general public, including women, to keep an eye on mischief makers. This measure is aimed at dealing with all cases of harassment of women including physical and mental abuse.”

Additional Commissioner of Police Swati Lakra said, "We have identified hotspots from where regular complaints come and the time at which eve-teasing is frequent."

SHE teams are trained to catch eve-teasers red handed and video footage would be used as evidence to press charges against them. If someone is found to be a first time offender, the police would provide counselling in the presence of family members. For repeated offenders, the police would take strict action under the Nirbhaya Act. The police will be carrying out extensive anti-eve-teasing awareness campaigns across the city.

Dial 100 will be the helpline to lodge all complaints by the victims, whose identity will be kept confidential. The teams have been constituted as part of the measures being taken by the Telangana government for women's safety and security. The city police proposed legislation to the government to curb harassment of women on the lines of the Andhra Pradesh Anti Ragging Act and Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Eve Teasing Act. Lakra said, "It is a warning to men that if they harass women they would regret it."

More than 40 men, from an 18-year-old youth to a 45-year-old man, have been caught by SHE teams in its first week itself. The police is taking suo-moto action even if women do not wish to file complaints.

The common offences were filming girls without their knowledge, inappropriate touching inside public transports or passing lewd comments. These SHE teams try and ensure that women don't have to go through any harassment in their daily life and men will have fear of law.
