Railway employees threaten indefinite stir
The South Central Railway Mazdoor Union (SCRMU) and South Central Railway Employees Association (SCRES) have proposed to go on indefinite strike if their demands are not met by the Centre. The South Central Railway Mazdoor Union (SCRMU) and South Central Railway Employees Association (SCRES) have proposed to go on indefinite strike if their demands are not met by the Centre. A meeting was conducted on Monday at the Sanchalan Bhavan near Rail Nilayam.K Siva Kumar, convener, Joint Council of Action, SCR, said, “The Railways and other central government employees are facing a grave danger due to plans to rope in 100 per cent FDI into this system.
The interim report submitted by Vivek Debroy Committee has laid out a road map for the destruction of the existing railway system and is against the welfare of the employees.” D Bhujanga Rao, chairman, said, “The National JCA has warned that lakhs of central government employees will be compelled to become private workers and will loose their existing rights and will turned into slaves of corporates.
Labour laws are being amended to favour the corporates.” The National JCA has decided to organise an indefinite strike to force the central government to change the anti-labour policies. A ‘Chalo Parliament’ is scheduled on April 28. Meanwhile the SCR JCA has decided to hold a public meeting on April 20 at the Kazipet Station.
