In a unique Bonalu celebrations unlike the traditional one, people at Sri Gayatri Dhyana mandir decorate the idol of Maa Gayatri Devi with vegetables and called it as the ‘Shakaambari avatar.’

Goddess Gayatri Devi who is considered as the main deity among all the avatars was decorated with 16 different types of vegetables that include beans, brinjal, cabbage, carrot and cucumber to name a few.

Instead of sacrificing the lives of goats and hens as an offering to the goddess, people at the temple chose to offer veggies and decorate the idol with them.
