Telangana State Urdu Academy presented the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad National Award to Syed Vicaurddin, Chief Editor of nonagenarian Urdu Daily for his distinguished contribution in the field of journalism spanning over six decades. Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali visited Vicaruddin’s residence to present the award to him.
Telangana State Urdu Academy presented the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad National Award to Syed Vicaurddin, Chief Editor of nonagenarian Urdu Daily for his distinguished contribution in the field of journalism spanning over six decades. Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali visited Vicaruddin’s residence to present the award to him.
Speaking on the occasion, Vicaruddin said, “Maualan Azad played a key role in promoting education.” He expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for conferring the award and thanked the Deputy CM for personally coming down to bestow the same.
Immediately after receiving the award, he donated the award amount (Rs 1,25,000) for the welfare of struggling Urdu journalists and assured to double the amount in donation.
Mahmood Ali said, “Syed Vicaruddin is the senior most editor of any Urdu daily. He upheld high values and ethics of journalism as an editor at great heights. The Chief Minister instructed me to personally present the award to Vicaruddin at his residence as he could visit the award ceremony due to ill health.”
Omer Jaleel, Secretary, Minority Welfare Department; Telangana State Urdu Academy Secretary, Director Prof. SA Shukoor; Vice-Chairman of Indo-Arab League Hyderabad, Dr Mir Akbar Ali Khan; Chief Editor of Gawah Urdu Weekly, Dr Syed Fazil Hussain Parvez; Mazharuddin Hussain Saberi and others were also present on this occasion.
