The Truck, which will facilitate hygienic toilets in over fifteen Government Schools in Shabad and neighborhood, was formally launched by Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, MP, Chevella and Chairman, JKMR Foundation and Prem Nambiar, VP CSR, Sutherland, at a program organised at the Government Girls High School, Shabad, on Saturday.
Also present on the occasion were Kale Yadaiah, MLA, Chevella, Venkat Reddy, National Convenor, MV Foundation; Ramdev Reddy, TRS Leader; Anjaneyulu, TRS Leader; Bhim Reddy, Red Cross Member and Jhansi, Prinicipal, Government Girls High School, Shabad, amongst others.
Lack of toilets or unhygienic toilets in schools has been one of the impediments in keeping school age kids away from education. The problem is further compounded by the high dropout rate amongst girl students because of this. Off late due to Swacch Bharat campaign several Organisations and generous individuals have been contributing to building school toilets across the country. But lack of maintenance and unhygienic conditions at these newly constructed toilets, has brought the problem back to square one.
Precisely to address this concern, Konda Vishweshwar Reddy through a painstaking initiative developed a 'Swacch School Sanitation Truck.' This truck is custom built with a water tank, high pressure pump, motor, cleaning equipment and enhancements, manned by a trained driver cum operator, for regular maintenance of toilets in Government schools.
The vehicle donated by Sutherland, a Piaggio Porter 1000, costing Rs 4,98,145/-, is manned by a high school passed local youth Eralapally Narasimhulu and will maintain the toilets at Aaspallygudah Primary School, Cherlaguda Primary School, Primary School, Yelgondaguda, Zilla Parishat High School (Girls), Shabad; Upper Primary School (Urdu), Shabadh, Upper Primary School, Shabad, Zilla Parishat High School, Shabad, Upper Primary School, SC Colony, Shabad, Upper Primary School, Keshguda, Upper Primary School, Meddheguda, Upper Primary School, Sankepallyguda, Upper Primary School, Patelguda, KAsturba Gandhi Vidyalaya, Shabad, Primary School, Bobiligama and Primary School, Ubagunta. The respective schools will contribute a monthly maintenance of Rs 1500 from their annual maintenance funds to the cleanliness drive.
