Hyderabad: Mercure Hyderabad KCP inaugurated a Solar Hot Water System under Planet 21 initiative at the Hotel in an initiative towards sustainable development on Sunday. The installation of the solar hot water system is a step towards producing renewable power and protecting the environment.

The hotel has installed the solar panels across a 98 square-meter space on the rooftop, generating 10KL of water per day, to power a solar water heating requirement of its entire 128 rooms. The solar panels will generate 30KW power per hour reducing dependence on conventional energy sources and maximising use of solar energy to take care of hotel requirements. This step will help in controlling the global warming and the risk of the short circuit is also reduced to minimal.

The solar hot water system will reduce the hot water energy consumption and will save approximately 180 units per day, which equals to the average cost savings of Rs 5, 66,000 per year. This step was taken as a part of Planet 21 program. Dinesh Rai, General Manager, Mercure Hyderabad KCP said “At Mercure Hyderabad KCP, we are committed for the sustainable growth and development of the planet. This initiative is a step to reduce our carbon foot prints and become energy efficient. With the installation of solar hot water system, we will reduce our dependence on conventional power sources and switch to renewable sources. We are happy to install the solar hot water system at our hotel under PLANET 21 program.”
