Banks told to provide facilities for farmers

Gajwel: Siddipet district Collector P Venkat Ram Reddy on Tuesday inspected the arrangements at the banks in the Gajwel constituency for the smooth implementation of Rythu Bandhu Scheme.

The constituency is represented by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. The Collector asked the authorities concerned to ensure that farmers who come to withdraw their investment support scheme cheques should not face any difficulties.

The Collector along with the GADA OSD M Hanumantha Rao visited SBI banks at Wargal and Jagadevpur mandal headquarters, Andhra Bank and its premises at Gajwel mandal headquarters and to deal the rush of farmer at the banking counters from May 10, the collector instructed the managers of the banks to provide arrangements such as tents, chairs, drinking water, cheque processing slips and counter details at the banks to implement the scheme in a festive atmosphere.

The Collector said in total, Rs. 236 crore of cheques will be distributed to the 2,68,000 farmers in the district under the government’s prestigious scheme to support the debt-burden farmers. As many as 119 teams, each team consisting 10 officials were deployed to implement the Rythu Bandhu scheme at district, mandal, cluster and village level smoothly. Foolproof arrangement including police protection will be made at Nodal branches of 9 banks with 41 branches of SBI, Syndicate, APGVB and Andhra Bank in the district from May 10, said the collector.

A helpline was also created at the collectorate for the scheme and farmers can reach toll free number 08457 230000 to lodge complaints or for information about their implementation of the scheme, said the collector who was accompanied by GADA, DCP Narasimha Reddy, Gajwel RDO Vijayendar Reddy, Tahsildar Nirmala, Andhra Bank Manager Indrajeet, R&B DE Bala Prasad and other officials.
