Jeedimetla: The local traffic police along with the GHMC Town Planning officials have been concentrating on clearing footpaths from encroachments during the last two days.

Traffic CI Satyanarayana, SI Jani and Town Planning Officer Saibaba, along with their staff have been involved in removing encroachments from IDPL to Gandimaisamma temple.

Seeking to justify the demolitions, Satyanarayana told The Hans India that the encroachments were being cleared as the pedestrians were facing problems walking on the roads. Also, local residents and vehicle-users were being inconvenienced. Besides, he said, the ‘dabba shops’ on the footpaths were hindering the road-widening works.

The CI stated that by removing the encroachments the traffic police would prevent accidents at least to some extent. He warned of steps as per law if officials were prevented from doing their duty.
