A 34-years-old body builder Shafi Sami from Hyderabad is finally going to step in at an international level by taking part in Mr Asia championship which is to be held in 2018. From his childhood he had to struggle for everything as his parents expired in his childhood and later his responsibility was taken up by his grandparents.

Hyderabad: A 34-years-old body builder Shafi Sami from Hyderabad is finally going to step in at an international level by taking part in Mr Asia championship which is to be held in 2018. From his childhood he had to struggle for everything as his parents expired in his childhood and later his responsibility was taken up by his grandparents.

In the year 2002 his grandparent expired, after which the responsibility of his sister was on him as Indian Wrestling was from his family background which motivated Shafi to take up bodybuilding. At the age of 15 years Shafi started bodybuilding at Muscle Power Gym. To manage gym fees, home expenses and my sister’s responsibilities he started working for which he used to ride on bicycle whole day on daily wages for which he used to get Rs 20 per day, Shafi said.

Speaking to The Hans India Shafi Sami said that my trainer Bhasker Reddy guided me towards my aim by seeing my dedication and hard work. He said that he used to keep the equipment's at the same place from where he took and not only his equipment's but of others as well, by noticing this the owner of the gym stopped charging the gym fees.

Shafi said “I decided to work hard, later participated in many local competitions and then i got a job of a Fitness Trainer in Hitech Gym during which I used to train around 200-250 members. In 2005 I participated in Mr Andhra Pradesh Competition and in 2006 Mr South India in which I acquired 3rd Place and that was the biggest achievement of my life. After Mr South India I also took part in other competitions.”

“One of my friend who used to supply equipment’s suggested me a job as a Fitness Trainer in Indian Army and I was very excited as my father served In Army and so I was keen on joining Indian Army. I gave Interview and got selected as a Fitness Trainer at Mehdipatnam unit, I used to train the Heroes and provided tips and knowledge to Army Major, colonel and the whole unit and severed in Indian Army for 14 months”, bodybuilder said.

Shafi said that he used to save money by giving freelance training to celebrities and with the amount he save he started his own gym in 2008 at Asif Nagar, then in 2013 he participated in Mr Perfect and bagged 1st position. He also added that now in the 2018 he will participate at an international level in Mr Asia and represent India.
