The valedictory function of the orientation programme was organized at Jubilee Hills on Sunday. B P Acharya, IAS, Special Chief Secretary and DG, Dr MCR HRD Institute, gave away certificates to the participants.

The valedictory function of the orientation programme was organized at Jubilee Hills on Sunday. B P Acharya, IAS, Special Chief Secretary and DG, Dr MCR HRD Institute, gave away certificates to the participants.

Chief Guest B P Acharya said that while water supply management was of great importance, it does not receive the importance that it richly deserves by the functionaries of municipal administration. He called upon the need for a dedicated staff in order to address the issues relating to operation and maintenance of efficient water supply.

He stated that quality of water should be free from bacteriological contamination and turbidity. He also said that Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation has got at its disposal a whopping Rs. 1000 crore for the smart city project which is a great opportunity to for the Corporation to conceptualize and execute a number of innovative facilities, including the efficient management of water supply.

VP Gautham, IAS, Commissioner, Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation said that smart city does not mean merely the application of new technologies. “The focus should instead be on understanding the ground realities and finding enduring solutions to the genuine problems of people. “In this scenario, the technology should be a means to an end rather than an end in itself”. He stated.
