Charminar: The famous Mia Mishk mosque needs immediate attention of the authorities concerned since the structure is under poor maintenance. The entrance gate of the mosque is dilapidated and needs to be conserved.

The mosque is unique for its lodging or sarai and the dargah in the premises. People coming from different places for business purpose besides students stay in the rooms available at the mosque. These rooms or resting quarters were constructed along with the mosque in those days. This hostel area and mosque is in a dilapidated condition and needs to be restored.

The structure is listed as the Archaeological monument of the state since it is almost the age of Charminar. The mosque is damaged at different places. Locals in the area said that maintenance of the mosque was not in order and authorities are reluctant towards their duty.

Abdul Hameed, a local, said that the entrance gate is apparently weak and damaged, but no proper restoration was taken up by the authorities. He said that mosque needs to be protected for the sake of Archaeology if not for any other purpose.

The historical monument is the unique structure constructed in the year 1676 to 1678 by the Mia Mishk, a servant of Abul Hassan Tana Shah, the last ruler of Qutub Shahi dynasty. The façade of the mosque resembles Charminar and attracts many tourists. Hundreds of students have stayed in the hostel of the mosque while pursuing their studies.

Similarly, the fountain inside the mosque is also not working. The maintenance and cleanliness in the mosque premises also thrown to the winds said another person Ghayasuddin Ahmed. He said that some white washing and cleaning work takes place every Ramzan but for the name sake.

Members of the mosque committee however said that Rs 10 lakh were sanctioned for the repairs under MP development fund recently. Further, another Rs 20 lakh were sanctioned for the repair and restoration of the mosque entrance and restoration works would commence soon.
