Moghalpura: With most of the devout avoiding haircut during the Ramzan owing to curbs during fasting, youngsters have begun knocking on the doors of ‘hair stylists’ during the night hours to avoid mad rush on Eid.

The Taj Men’s Saloon in Moghalpura has already started receiving scores of young men looking for stylish look this festival. The saloon which is expecting a huge rush during the last days has engaged eight hair stylists who will be working overtime to meet the demand in the the last 3 to 4 days of Ramzan. On an average a hair stylist takes care of 30 customers in a day, which includes trimming of beard.

“Our saloon handles 400 customers in a day during the Ramzan rush. During the last 2-days of Ramzan most of the customers arrive only after breaking their fast. We are forced to stay back till wee hours and if the moon is sighted, then the business will run till Eid prayers,” said Feroz Ahmed, hair stylist and owner of the saloon.

K Srinivas, a professional haircutter in Santoshnagar, was also gearing up for the mad rush for haircut. With his limited man force he would be doing his best to ensure satisfaction to the customers. While the hair stylists with modern interiors and equipment charge more, the traditional haircutter like Srinivas charge less. “We shall be handling about 15-30 persons per day during the last days and may only reach home while Muslims pray at Eid Gah,” he said.

Amidst the beeline, these youngsters could be seen busy with their smart phones in the saloons. It will be the once in a year time that these youth will be waiting patiently for haircut, sometimes it may stretch for over 2-hours. “Since there would be more rush after moon is sighted, I thought it will be better to have a haircut today itself,” said Syed Mohsin, a student.

This Ramzan the youth who are influenced by the global trends wants latest stylish haircuts. They would be wearing new clothes and to compliment that they would be trying out latest trendy hair-styles. “Many youngsters and children opt for stylish haircuts donned by well-known football players, Hollywood actors and singers. The trendy hair-cut styles have their own names like one-sided, double-sided, spikes etc., and there are many who also dye their hair with different colours.

One sided is like trimming hair of only one side of the head while trimming of hairs on both sides of head is called double- sided, and straightening of front hair termed as a spike cutting. These stylish haircuts are done by a machine for its good looks and we charge Rs120 to Rs180 in accordance to its styles, added Feroz.
