Farmers visiting Madannapet market being exploited by locals

Saidabad: Following the soaring complaints by the locals, farmers and other pavement vendors at the Madannapet market, Maheshwaram MLA Teegala Krishna Reddy visited the market and interacted with the affected.

There have been complaints of illegal parking, exploitation of the farmers, lack of basic amenities to the pavement vendors and farmers in the market. Dozens of farmers carry out their business at Madannapet market every day and are being exploited by the agents, kirana shop owners and some persons who have been using the lands of a temple to carry out their parking business.

It is to be noted that parking in the open area is not charged as per the GHMC guidelines, but it is being continued in the market. Krishna Reddy expressed his anger over the exploitation of farmers in the market and instructed the GHMC officials to take proper action against the persons violating the norms.

Madannapet Rythu Sangham head E Ramreddy explained the legislator about the problems the vendors and farmers face in the market and sought his help address it. He explained that though civic department has claimed to build dozens of She Toilets in the city but women farmers in the market do not have one and suffer a lot.

He said that local businessmen and some unauthorized persons were charging for parking of two wheelers from the farmers despite GHMC announcing no parking charges. MLA assured them to resolve their issues as early as possible and said that he would raise this issue with municipal administration department very soon.
