Works in no corporator’s land remain unfinished

​Gandhi Nagar/Kapra: The residents of Gandhi Nagar are caught in no corporator’s land as the area falls in between division 1 and division 2 of GHMC. Civic works are left unfinished as no corporator from the two divisions is taking up the responsibility.

Residents allege that the locality was being neglected as the corporators were not taking interest. For instance, in the past month, the roads were dug up to lay new water pipeline, but the debris has been not cleared.

The residents and shop keepers allege that Ravindra Sagar, the contractor does not respond and was unwilling to complete the work. Raj Kumar, a resident, says, “Many gave money from their own pockets to the contractor to clear the debris and clean the roads, but still the works were not completed.

When we contacted the corporators Pavani Reddy and Swarna Raj, both were hesitant to look into the matter.” Another resident, Satyanarayana says, “I paid Rs 700 to clear the mud mounds and even the area in front of my house, but the contractor now refuses to even answer my calls.

The civic authorities say that it would be cleared but we have no faith as several works in the past were left unfinished and the mud and stone were left on the road.” Attempts to contact the corporators and the contractor proved futile.
