Siddipet: The double bedroom housing facility for the poor is becoming true with the completion of construction works, according to Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao. The Minister held a review meeting on the flagship double bedroom scheme in Siddipet district here on Friday. The works of the housing scheme are nearing completion in Siddipet, Gajwel and Dubbaka areas and the houses would be allotted to the beneficiaries in a transparent manner, he said.
The officials were instructed to conduct smooth distribution of the housing units among the beneficiaries. There would be no political intervention and the District Collector would distribute the housing units to them, he said. The houses to be given in the areas, include 1,960 in Siddipet, 1,300 in Gajwel, 1,000 in Dubbaka and 400 in Husnabad. No applicant is required to pay a single rupee and get application for undertaking by the beneficiary.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has taken up this housing scheme in Telangana as a role model in the country, he claimed. The housing units resemble those of gated community with all modern facilities; Harish Rao said and warned the officials of suspensions if they indulge in partiality or corruption. The beneficiaries should not give a single rupee to anyone as they will get the housing units free of cost, the minister clarified.
The beneficiaries are selected irrespective of caste, religion and political colour and quota norms are being applied to SC, ST, BC and Minority and physically challenged and priority will be given to those who have lost their houses as part of modernization of towns. The list of the beneficiaries will be announced in August second week and the housing units will be allotted among the beneficiaries in August last week, he added. He also said the applications would be received from July 9 to 12 and scrutiny would be done from July 16 to August 5.
