Gunfoundry: Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) corporator of Gunfoundry division from TRS party Mamatha Santosh Gupta has been running pillar to post for the development and to provide basic needs to the residents in the area. After she took the post of a corporator, nearly 50 per cent of community halls were freed from encroachment and were handed over to the locals and director for city library committee
“When I was elected as corporator of Gunfoundry division the area was in a very bad state, but later I started taking up the issues and installed street lights, took up drainage and sewerage works. As the condition of the nala in Netaji Nagar was very bad, the GHMC sanctioned Rs 1.7 crore for the repair works of nala,” said corporator. Explaining about the works taken up in the area, Mamatha said that under JNNURM scheme - construction of 1BHK houses was launched in 2011, but due to shortage of funds the work was stopped and after a representation to MA&UD minister K Taraka Rama Rao was made, Rs 440 crore was sanctioned for the construction of 106 houses in Phool Bhag basti.
Mamatha, also a director for city library committee, said that to provide employment beautician and tailoring certificate courses were offered to unemployed youth to make them skilled. In the last two years, around 200 Kalyana Laxmi and Shadi Mubarak cheques have been handed over to the new married couple beneficiaries. Speaking about the development works, Gunfoundry corporator said that under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) around 150 CCTV cameras installed were installed in the area and all of them have been connected to local police station.
Vendor cards have been allotted for the hawkers in King Koti. In coordination with municipal department a 300-bedded complex at Koti Maternity Hospital has been arranged for the attenders of patients. Also, Shantha Biotech is providing food to around 300 people and Jain samaj has set up a mineral water plant in the hospital, she added. Mamattha has also proposed for the construction of slab, installation of RO water system and beautification of ground in three city libraries in Gunfoundry division.
