Safilguda: According to recent studies the traffic movement in the twin-cities moves at 12 km per hour during peak hours. For the residents who live in and around Safilguda and who have to cross the railway track, the pace could be even more less. Arvind Panagrahi, a railway employee says, “We have to wait for close to 20 minutes for a train to pass, on Friday we waited for 22 minutes. It is a great loss of time and people get late to work.”

Vimla Naik, a housewife had a horrifying experience on Saturday. She shares, “I came to buy fruits that are sold near the railway station and it took me 45 minutes to get back home, in spite of living just on the other side of the platform.”

In spite of several representations by the resident welfare associations, the authorities have not taken up the issue of easing traffic, says Ram, of Sainathpuram. He adds, “This is the dhortest route to reach Marredpally and beyond and people are stranded for so long. I lost a day’s leave as I was late to school on three occasions, “ says the school teacher.
