Hyderabad: The Southwest Monsoon was vigorous in Telangana during the last 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on Sunday, with heavy rain occurring at a few places in Ranga Reddy, Vikarabad, Siddipet, Medak, Sangareddy, Medchal-Malkajgiri districts. There was 11 cm each rainfall in Ibrahimpatnam (Ranga Reddy), Tandur and Vikarabad, the Met department bulletin said.
The heavy rain is attributed to the upper air cyclonic circulation over north Odisha coast and its neighbourhood which now lies over north coastal Odisha and extends up to 7.6 km above the mean sea level. Under its influence a low pressure area is very likely to form over the north-west Bay of Bengal and its neighbourhood during next 24 hours.
The chief amounts of rainfall (in cm) were: Bomraspeta (Vikarabad) 9, Bejjanki (Siddipet), Doma ( Vikarabad) 8 each, Dubbak (Siddipet) 7, Parigi (Vikarabad) 6, Peddemul (RR), Kodangal (Vikarabad), Ramayampet (Medak), Narayankhed (Sangareddy), Gandeed (RR) 5, Medak 4.
There was 3 cm of rain each in Maheswaram (RR), Vicarabad, Hayathnagar, Yacharam (both RR), Mominpet, Tandur (both in Vikarabad), Chevella (RR). There was 2 cm each in Saroornagar (RR), Hakimpet IAF station (Malkajgiri), Medchal (RR), Manchal, Shamirpet (both in Malkajgiri), Sangareddy, Marpalle, Nawabpet (both in Vikarabad).
