Vikarabad: Amidst chanting of Vedic hymns local BJP leaders immersed the ashes of former Prime Minister and Statesman Atal Behari Vajpayee in Muchukunda river near Bugga Ramalingeswara temple on the outskirts of the town. Earlier, the ashes were brought here from Delhi. People thronged the place to witness the event. The ashes were immersed in the birth place of River Musi.

Soon after the ashes reached here, people proceeded in a rally along with the ashes to the river. BJP leader Baddam Balreddy said that Vajpayee shared a bond with the district since he had visited here long ago. In the death of Vajpayee, the BJP had lost an elderly person. He observed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was following the foot-steps of Vajpayee, who left his mark in the country’s development.
