Hyderabad:The controversy over the appointment of a Seemandhra doctor for the post of Superintendent of Osmania Hospital was resolved. The post of Principal of Osmania Medical College was given now to Dr Suvarna. Dr Siva Ram Reddy would continue as superintendent of the Osmania Hospital.

The orders were yet to be issued. And the present Principal of Osmania Medical College Dr Putta Srinivas Rao was promoted to the post of Additional Director. When The Hans India contacted the president of Telangana Doctors Union leader Dr Ramesh, he described it as their big achievement. “With our unflinching efforts we gained such a highest post for our candidate. We are satisfied with the government’s decision.

In fact the post of Principal, Osmania Medical College is the most prestigious one and it was given to most deserved senior candidate Dr Suvarna. We are happy for giving such a highest honour to Dr Suvarna,” said Dr Ramesh. It may be recalled that the appointments of Seemandhra doctors for the posts of Superintendent of OGH and Principal of Osmania Dental College raised controversy. The Telangana JAC alleged that Dr Siva Ram Reddy and Dr Padmavathi were appointed to the posts by sidelining the rule of seniority blatantly.

Telangana Doctors Union held discussions with Additional Direction of Medical Education. As DME gave assurance they displayed wait and watch approach. Finally the two parties came to consensus, the controversy was over.
