Hyderabad: A brave heart, who resisted attempts to snatch gold chain worn by her, was attacked by the assailants on Friday. Two persons were arrested for the knife attack on her neck. The incident took place at her residence in Suraram Village under Dundigal police station limits.

According to police, the accused were identified as G Srinivas Reddy, 28, and Maloth Devender, 23. Srinivas, a resident of Gomaram, Medak district, is a relative of K Masi Reddy, husband of Madhavi, 30, the victim. He was a regular visitor to the residence where the couple stayed.

On Friday afternoon, Srinivas, along with his friend Devender, visited the house of Masi Reddy and enquired with Madhavi if her husband was there.

After she replied in negative, they again knocked the door after 10 minutes and asked for some drinking water. While she was about to bring water, Srinivas tried to snatch her gold ornaments, which she resisted. Devender, who felt insecure due to her screams, attacked her with a knife, causing an injury on her neck. Both fled the spot and she was admitted into a private hospital for treatment.

The police which received a complaint from Masi Reddy began investigation. On Saturday afternoon, the police chased and caught Devender, after he was seen at Bahadurpally Crossroads. Later, the police also arrested Srinivas. “Srinivas was also involved in a rape case in 2003 and served eight years in jail for the crime,” said A R Srinivas, DCP, Balanagar Zone.
