India Post sanctions 1.72 cr for Hudhud-affected employees

India Post has sanctioned Rs 1.72 crore towards cyclone relief for postal officials affected by the Hudhud Cyclone on Tuesday. BV Sudhakar, Chief Postmaster General, AP and Telangana States, presented the sanction letter for Rs 1,72,90,000, which was collected from the Postal Staff of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, to the State Union Leaders on Tuesday at Hyderabad.

India Post has sanctioned Rs 1.72 crore towards cyclone relief for postal officials affected by the Hudhud Cyclone on Tuesday. BV Sudhakar, Chief Postmaster General, AP and Telangana States, presented the sanction letter for Rs 1,72,90,000, which was collected from the Postal Staff of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, to the State Union Leaders on Tuesday at Hyderabad.

Near about 1,309 department officials and 2,784 Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) from the Visakhapatnam region were affected by the cyclone. Earlier, the cases of the victims were first referred to the Directorate for financial assistance from the Central Welfare Fund. In turn, the Directorate forwarded prescribed pro forma for submission of applications by the affected officials. The applications were then sent to the Regional Office, Vizag. Applications from the officials await further transmission to the Directorate.

Meanwhile, Rs1,72 crore was distributed from the Postal Relief Fund (PRF) to the affected officials with Rs 4,000 each to the department and GDS officials, and Rs 3,000 to contingent officials. The PRF committee formed for the purpose unanimously decided to appeal to the staff in Andhra Pradesh Circle to contribute generously to recover the funds utilised from the PRF Fund.
