An exhibition of paintings, drawings and sketches by late Kondapalli Seshagiri Rao will be inaugurated by renowned educationalist Chukka Ramaiah at Ailamma Art Gallery, Baghlingampally, today. Kondapalli Seshagiri Rao was born at Penugonda in Warangal district on January 27, 1924.

An exhibition of paintings, drawings and sketches by late Kondapalli Seshagiri Rao will be inaugurated by renowned educationalist Chukka Ramaiah at Ailamma Art Gallery, Baghlingampally, today. Kondapalli Seshagiri Rao was born at Penugonda in Warangal district on January 27, 1924.

Considered a pioneer of aqua texture paintings in India, Seshagiri Rao completed over 1,000 masterpieces during his career. He also worked with oil paintings, wall murals, aqua texture paintings and many other forms. His paintings on varied subjects range from mythological stories, epics and historical events and that of daily life.

His works were inspired by various facets of rural Telangana. Rao’s paintings are displayed in different places across the world, including the Indian Embassy at Washington DC and the Sri Venkateswara temple at Pittsburgh, USA, and the Salarjung Museum in Hyderabad. The selection of 50 works at the exhibition will be open to the public from 12 pm to 8 pm till March 6.
