Hyderabad: Irked by increasing complaints from the citizens about the inconvenience caused due to the ongoing metro rail construction works, Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma expressed strong displeasure on the slow pace of work and instructed L&TMRHL to speed up the work. Among the many decisions taken in the 35th Special Task Force meeting held on Tuesday, Sharma observed that L&TMRHL was taking more time in shifting of utilities and construction of Metro Rail pillars, stations etc., at some locations and it needed to complete these works in a time-bound manner.

He informed the heads of departments that Hyderabad Metro Rail was a prestigious project and was even drawing the attention of the Prime Minister. He stated that the Prime Minister recently reviewed the progress of Hyderabad Metro Rail project during the PRAGATI meeting (video conference) held to review the progress of iconic projects across the country.

The Prime Minister has shown keen interest on Hyderabad Metro Rail project during the review, since it is the world’s largest project being executed in PPP mode and advised HMRL and L&TMRHL to complete the project as per schedule.

Restoring dug-up roads, completing the acquisition of balance properties numbering 47 and setting specific target dates for the completion of all metro stations were discussed in the meeting. Collectors of Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts were directed to complete acquisition process of the balance properties.

Sharma advised Special Chief Secretary, MA & UD to convene a joint meeting with MD, HMR, C&SO, GHMC and Commissioners of Police, Hyderabad and Cyberabad to study the feasibility of multi-level parking facility and better traffic management for all Metro Rail stations and to come up with a detailed report.
