Iran\'s homemade high-precision missile \"Toufan\" (Hurricane) will be fired Friday by the army during the ongoing military drills, Iranian ground force commander Lt. Gen. Ahmad Reza Pourdastan has announced.
Tehran: Iran's homemade high-precision missile "Toufan" (Hurricane) will be fired Friday by the army during the ongoing military drills, Iranian ground force commander Lt. Gen. Ahmad Reza Pourdastan has announced.
"The high-precision 'Toufan' missile, having a range of four kilometre, can be used both as a land-based missile and fired from helicopters during the war-games," Fars News Agency reported Friday quoting him as saying Thursday.
He also said that Shaher sniper rifle, the Moharram six-barrel cannon, and mine-shedding systems are among the other weapons and equipment to be used in the wargames.
Elaborating that the drones used by the Iranian Ground Forces in the drills, Pourdastan said a new type of these drones can be used for suicide attacks against air or ground targets.
Navy commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari said Tuesday that during the miiltary drills the naval forces would use different types of military equipment and weapons showing Iran's might in water.
Various types of warships, destroyers, submarines, missiles, aircraft and helicopters would be used in the drills in a show of Iran's naval might and power, he added.
Different units of the Iranian army started massive military drills in the southern and southeastern parts of the country Thursday.
The six-day military exercises codenamed Mohammad Rasoulallah (PBUH) will cover an area of 2.2 million sq. km from the east of the Strait of Hormuz, a strait between the Gulf of Oman and the Persian Gulf, to the southern parts of the Gulf of Aden in the Arabian Sea.
