Pakistan has expressed surprise and disappointment over the Indian Government's move to summon US Ambassador Richard Verma to express displeasure over the Obama administration notifying the sale of eight F-16s to Islamabad.

"We are surprised and disappointed at the Indian Government's reaction. Their army and arsenal stock is much larger and they are the largest importer of defence equipment," Pakistan's Ministry of External Affairs (MoFA) spokesperson said in a statement.

"As regards F-16 sale, Pakistan and the United States closely cooperate in countering terrorism. US spokesperson clearly announced that the sale is to enhance precision strike capability," he added.
