Social network Facebook has apologized as its 'safety check' app malfunctioned. From Belgium to Hawai, and Egypt or Hong Kong, users from all over the world have received notifications asking them to report after a bomb blast in Pakistan killed 44 people. Launched in 2014, its main purpose is to inform your friends you are safe after a natural disaster or a terror attack occurring nearby.

The notification says, “Are you OK? It looks like you’re in the area affected by [the explosion]. Let friends know that you’re safe.” Facebook said some users accidentally received the message. “We have activated Safety Check in Lahore. We apologize to anyone who mistakenly received a notification outside of Pakistan and are working to resolve the issue,” a company spokesperson said in a statement to TIME.
