Civic staffs stage novel protest

Kadapa: Protesting against the delay in the sanctioning of house sites to them, the employees of Kadapa Municipal Corporation staged a novel protest by tonsuring their heads at the Collectorate here on Wednesday. The employees in large numbers gathered at the Collectorate and raised the slogans against the State government over the delay in allotting the house sites to them. Some employees tonsured their heads and expressed their resentment. Addressing the gathering, Siddi Ramaiah, a municipal employee, said that many employees in the corporation were working on contract basis and were getting meager salaries. Despite several representations made by them to the officials concerned to sanction the house sites, nothing has been done so far and their problem has remained on the paper, he lamented. He urged the officials to sanction the house sites to all the contract workers immediately. Otherwise, the stir would be intensified in the days to come.
