Sathupalli: A couple, Suresh and Sudha, are rendering yeoman services to the society by offering free treatment to several patients suffering from long-term chronic ailments by the use of medicinal plants grown in their backyard, called ‘Nandana Vanam’.

Sudha has been securing saplings of these plants from other States and raising them in her backyard. The plants include ‘Insulin Plant’, ‘Lakshmana Phalam’ (Miracle Tree), ‘Passion fruit’, ‘Star fruit’, besides Kerala ‘Dondakai’ and ‘Usiri Komma’.

Speaking to The Hans India, Sudha said plants were raised in the backyard and on the rooftop in bags. The Insulin Plant and Lakshmana Phalam could be used for curing diabetes and cancer respectively. Sudha claims that consumption of the fruits gives the same result as chemotherapy that costs Rs 10,000. “Since I love these plants, I am raising them in my backyard and also offering them free of cost to anyone from anywhere who approach,” Sudha said.

Adding further she said most of the plants were secured from neighbouring States. “Plants, including the ‘Kerala Usiri’, ‘China jama’, ‘Lakshamana plant’, ‘Water Apple’, ‘Star Fruit’, ‘Thyroid Mamidi’, ‘Baramusha Mamidi’, ‘Avada Mamidi’, ‘Apple Simla Regu’, ‘Danimma’, ‘Sapota’, ‘Balaji Nimma’, besides decoration flowers are secured from Bengaluru.

I am raising about 1,000 such plants,” she informed. According to her, consumption of Passion Fruit (Abhiruchi Pandu) brings down the incidence of cancer of the large intestine, heart attack, hypertension, insomnia and sight problems, besides boosting body’s immunity.Family members of those who have been cured of their ailments hail the couple for their large heartedness which is worthy of
emulation.
