Khammam: Expressing concern over the problems being faced by the common man due to demonetisation, the district Congress leaders on Friday conducted a roundtable discussion on the burning issue.

Speaking at the meeting presided over by Khammam ST Cell chairman Dhonvan Venkat Rao, ST Cell State Convener Md Fazal said the demonetisation not only hit the economy of the country hard but also claimed more than 50 lives.

He demanded the Centre pay an ex gratia of Rs 10 lakh each to the kin of those died while standing in queues near banks and ATM centres, apart from seeking the State government to arrange adequate cash in lower denominations to ease the situation.

Senior leaders Peter Venkanna, D Ramesh, D Gopi, Rana Pratap Singh, Sushil Bhanu Naik, Venkateswarlu, R Gopi, D Shankar, Balaji Naik and Narsimha Rao were among others present.
