Mancherial: District Collector RV Karnan has founded a charitable institution called ‘Apanna Hastam’ for the benefit of the destitute with the help of other philanthropists.

Under this, people who want to do a bit of good for beggars and destitute can leave the goods which are not useful to them with the institute’s volunteers, who will then deliver the goods to the needy.

The district collector, who formed Apanna Hastam in the newly-formed Mancherial district, entrusted the responsibility of the work to district welfare officer Ross Khan.

As part of the initiative, special boxes were established to deposit goods categorising them as for males, females and children. Anganwadi activists are lending their help to preserve the goods donated by the public.

The goods are being distributed among the inmates of orphanages being run by the Red Cross Society. The people of the district have been appealing to the authorities to ensure that Apanna Hastam is implemented forever.
