As many as eight persons, including the temple priest and two shepherds were stuck in flood waters of Musi when they went to visit Lord Shiva temple at Bheemalingam Katwa near Sangam village in Valigonda mandal in Yadadri district on Thursday.

According to sources, the persons Sirikonda Jhangir, Sirikonda Laxmamma, Sirikonda Jangaiah, Sirikonda Alivelu, Sirikonda Venkatesham of Redla Repaka village of Valigonda mandal, the temple priest, Chari and shepherds Chilukala Yadaiah and Chilukala Swamy were all stuck in flood waters.

Soon after receiving information, Bhongir MLA Shekar Reddy along with MLC Krishna Reddy and DCP Yadagiri rushed to the spot and contacted the National Disaster Response Force for help to rescue the victims.

Meanwhile, local fire services staff along with police rescued the two shepherds, Yadaiah and Swamy, who are at accessible point with the help of ropes. Whereas Sangem village fishermen rescued the remaining persons who were stuck in the middle of the stream with the help of their country-made boats.

All the victims were safely brought to the bank of the river before the NDRF forces reached the spot. The relieved victims thanked MLA Shekar Reddy, local fishermen and others for saving their lives.
