Kothagudem: Around half of the Kalyana Lakshmi Scheme beneficiaries of the district are yet to get the cash benefit of Rs 51,000 each. The benefits promised by the State government under Kalyana Lakshmi Scheme should reach the brides at the time of their marriage. However, there are instances where the benefits haven’t reached even after the brides became mothers long after marriage.
Speaking to The Hans India here on Wednesday, the beneficiaries said that they have been making several rounds to government offices for months. Out of the 3,740 applicants from 23 mandals of the district, only 1,757 were sanctioned the benefits of the scheme, they lamented.
Applications of the rest of the beneficiaries are under various stages of consideration. As many as 299 applications are pending with the MLAs. Tahsildars rejected 173 out of 844 applications pending with them. A total of eight applications have been rejected by MLAs. As many as 171 applications have been computerised while 10 remained with the treasury.
The highest numbers of applicants (353) are from Yellandu mandal though only 226 applicants received the benefits. The least number of applicants (52) are from Allapalli mandal. The amount was disbursed only among 33 of them. The benefits reached only six of the 87 applicants from Gundala mandal.
Malothu Duli from Chenchupalli village said she has been making rounds to government offices for the last four months. While the officials maintained that the amount has been credited in the beneficiary’s bank account, the beneficiary denies receiving any amount. Mogili from Duradapadu in Dammapeta manal made a representation to the ITDA officials stating that she hadn’t received the benefit although her status form shows that money was sanctioned and credited in her bank account.
